Nintendo Declares November 1st “pikmin Day” In Recognition Of All Things Pikmin

Monday, 2. November 2026
The Pikmin Day Direct featured a look at Pikmin 4 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Dandori Academy, Pikmin Bloom, a series of short movies called Hello! Pikmin, and more.

This past weekend, Nintendo hosted a Pikmin Day Direct presentation. The showcase included the announcement of November 1st as Pikmin Day, a new look at the enhanced features and gameplay of the upcoming Pikmin 4 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Dandori Academy coming exclusively to Nintendo Switch 2 on November 12th, updates on the smart device app Pikmin Bloom and the reveal of an ongoing short movie series titled “Hello! Pikmin”.

Pikmin creator Shigeru Miyamoto kicked off the Pikmin Day Direct detailing the significance of the selected date for Pikmin Day. November 1st was chosen as a tribute to the original three Red, Blue and Yellow Pikmin, with the date 1.11 resembling them standing in a line.

A new trailer for Pikmin 4 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Dandori Academy was also shown. The showcase featured the new Dandori Academy, where players can improve their planning and treasure-collecting skills and test them in timed challenges and weekend exams to earn in-game medals. As announced during the presentation, a free demo of Pikmin 4 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Dandori Academy featuring the Sun-Speckled Terrace opening area in the main story and two stages in Dandori Academy is now available on Nintendo eShop.

An update is also coming to Pikmin Bloom this winter, including a new adventure in which users will explore caves, face off against creatures and collect in-game treasures. Also, players can test their Dandori skills by linking their app with Pikmin 4 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Dandori Academy and taking on exams in the game to get special in-app rewards, including a cave map.

In the presentation, Mr Miyamoto was joined by actress Fuka Koshiba, who is known for knitting a variety of Pikmin-inspired hats and sharing them on Instagram. Ms Koshiba will help bring the fun and excitement of exploring the world of Pikmin to more people.

Fans can dive into the world of Pikmin on Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch, with all four mainline Pikmin games available to play, from the first game through Pikmin 4.

Finally, two episodes of “Hello! Pikmin”, a new ongoing series of short movies produced by Nintendo Pictures, are available now on the Nintendo Today! smart device app and other Nintendo channels.

You can view the Pikmin Day Direct presentation in its entirety on YouTube.

Read below for additional information about everything featured:

  • Pikmin 4 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Dandori Academy: In this enhanced version for Nintendo Switch 2, players can now give voice commands to the Rescue Pup Oatchi. Tell him to “Rush!” or “Go to work!” and the built-in Nintendo Switch 2 microphone will register nine different commands. Experience the new Dandori Academy, where players can take on challenges to see how quickly they can collect treasures, like fruits or vegetables, within a stage. Using strategy and efficiency, players will practise their Dandori skills in each stage, and test them with exams held every Friday, Saturday and Sunday. A free demo of Pikmin 4 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Dandori Academy is now available on Nintendo eShop.
  • Pikmin Bloom: A new adventure is being added to the smart device app Pikmin Bloom. To enter the Secret Caves, players will need cave maps that they may receive together with postcards. But be warned, there are creatures lurking within the caves. Users can send a lot of their Pikmin at once into the caves to explore and battle. Plus, players who take exams in Pikmin 4 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Dandori Academy and have linked the game to Pikmin Bloom can send their results to the app to collect special in-app rewards.
  • “Hello! Pikmin”: A new series of short movies called “Hello! Pikmin” is on the way. There are already new episodes to enjoy on the Nintendo Today! smart device app and other Nintendo channels, with more to come. Like the Pikmin Close to you video that released last year, the movies are produced by Nintendo Pictures in collaboration with Mr Miyamoto.
