Choose the membership that’s right for you
There are four memberships you can choose from: Individual or Family, and whether you want the Expansion Pack or not. The Individual plan is for one person, while the Family membership is for up to eight family members.
The Expansion Pack memberships (Individual and Family) come packed with even more benefits, in addition to everything available through the regular Nintendo Switch Online membership.

The Nintendo Switch Online application can be accessed from the HOME Menu of your Nintendo Switch 2 or Nintendo Switch, allowing you to see online services, the latest news and your current membership status.

Frequently asked questions
Here are some frequently asked questions (and answers!) about Nintendo Switch Online and Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack.
Nintendo Switch Online individual and family memberships can be purchased directly through Nintendo eShop (either via Nintendo eShop or the Nintendo Switch Online app on your Nintendo Switch 2 or Nintendo Switch console. Additionally, download codes can be purchased through selected retailers.
You can purchase multiple memberships of the same type (individual or family) to extend your overall membership time to up to three years in total. Please note that you cannot combine time from a family membership and an individual membership.
You can change your Nintendo Switch Online membership plan in various ways:
- If you have a Nintendo Switch Online individual membership, you can change to a Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack individual membership, a Nintendo Switch Online family membership or a Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack family membership.
- If you have a Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack individual membership, you can change to a Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack family membership.
- If you have a Nintendo Switch Online family membership, you can change to a Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack family membership.
As long as the Nintendo Account your profile is linked to on Nintendo Switch 2 is the same as the one you used to purchase the Nintendo Switch Online membership, you can continue to enjoy all of the benefits of Nintendo Switch Online on your Nintendo Switch 2 console.
- Sign in to the admin Nintendo Account for the Family group at http://accounts.nintendo.com.
- Select Family group.
- Select Add member.*
* This option only appears for the family group’s admin member. If this option isn’t appearing, review the other members in the family group to verify the admin. The admin will need to either add the new member or transfer the admin rights to you before you can continue.
You can check your membership status from within the Nintendo Switch Online app on your console, Nintendo eShop or the Nintendo account website.
Nintendo Switch Online app
- Open Nintendo Switch Online on the HOME Menu.
- Select the Nintendo Account you want to use.
- Your current membership status, along with various other information about Nintendo Switch Online, will be displayed in the top-left corner.
NIntendo eShop
- Select the Nintendo eShop icon on the HOME Menu to launch Nintendo eShop.
- Select the Nintendo Account you want to use.
- Select your user icon in the upper-right corner to access your Account Information.
- Select Nintendo Switch Online from the menu on the left side of the screen to view your current Nintendo Switch Online membership details and expiry date.
Nintendo Account website
- Visit https://accounts.nintendo.com/portal and sign in to your Nintendo Account.
- Select Nintendo Switch Online.
- Check the Valid Memberships section for your current Nintendo Switch Online membership details and expiry date.
You can find the latest news about Nintendo Switch Online, its online services and more in the Nintendo Switch Online application, which you can access from the HOME Menu of your console.
If you chose to activate automatic renewal for your membership, you can cancel your Nintendo Switch Online membership by turning off automatic renewal via the Account Information section of Nintendo eShop. Please make sure to turn off automatic renewal at least 48 hours before your membership is set to expire. Once automatic renewal is turned off, it cannot be turned back on again.
Once cancelled, your membership will continue for the duration of time that you have already paid for, then your access to the service will end on the expiry date listed. Per the Nintendo Switch Online Terms of Service, we cannot offer refunds or credits for remaining time left on your membership.
For Nintendo Switch Online memberships purchased from Nintendo eShop, there is also a statutory 14-day right to cancel.
